Hi C-H's
I found this gem by accident when I was looking at something in "New
Scientist":
"Studies on rats show that capsaicin injections, either into the
blood or directly into the small intestine, keep the creatures eating
for longer. What happens is that the chemical interferes with the
ability of nerves to send "fullness" messages to the brain when fats
and carbohydrates wash down from the stomach."
This would explain why one is often tempted to eat much more food
than usual when it is laced with peppers. Conversely however there is
a hypothesis that very tasty food satisfies the appetite (at least in
some people) more quickly than a bland diet.
Moral: Balanced diet = HOT + TASTY!
