I've never thought of bells a bitter. Certainly they are not sugary
sweet, nor are they sour, salty or hot. But, bitter? Try sucking a
non-enteric coated asprin if you want bitter. I'd say that they have an
oily (as in crude oil) overtone to their flavour raw. Their flavour
cooked is much different... but, I can't detect bitter anywhere in
either state.

But, bells do have a distinctive taste - one which I quite like.

Bells are in a different grouping from habaneros. I think bells are in
capiscum annum and habs are in chinense. It would be akin to crossing a
camel with a zebra in the animal kingdom. Given a good enough profit
motive the folks at Monsanto or Dow could probably manage it. But not
gene splicers... probably not.
