Hi Mark,

You mean "similarity"??  How so??  Is gourd "wood" actually "wood"?? 
There is no grain (which is why it carves nicely) but it "woodburns", it
takes stains like wood.  Haven't really seen anything on it's cell
structure compared to regular wood, might be interesting under a
microscope.   Just something to think about.
