I have feared that that would be the case.  Time to finally admit that I've 
just gotta do Lord Byron's soil test.  Tobacco (cigar wrapper growers) in 
these parts used to dust pretty heavily spring and fall for the reason you 
state, and the lawn addicts load up in May-June to provide sweetness for 
overseeding in the fall.
One thing's for sure, with all that calcium carbonate, I won't have blossom 
end rot for another hunnert years.  'Course, I might not have any blossoms 
either.
