Chip,

I finally got around to using that Chili Base you offered up at the Bowers
Fest. Mighty fine stuff! I made a half-batch using the suggested recipe,
and a half-batch adding your base to my personal recipe (to my wife's
chagrin--it meant more than one pot of chili in the fridge for a few
days...).

Both ways were wonderful (I used ground turkey--something my wife said about
it being better for me...).

The suggested recipe provided a wonderful flavor, with an excellent
after-bite. Actually, I took my first taste and went "Medium? Hmm... more
like mild than... uh.. ooo... nevermind..." as the medium heat set. This
combination made for an excellent eating experience--getting the full
enjoyment out both flavor and that little kick we Chili-Heads seek...

Now, "my" batch was a bit hotter up front: sliced and diced jalapenos,
home-grown/dried/ground chili-powder, a dash of Louisiana Hot Sauce and some
minced garlic. I also added chunk tomatoes and diced bell peppers (I like
chucky chili). Normally, I would have cheated with a can of Bush's Chili
Magic (forgive me!) to save time, but using your base and a can of kidney
beans, I got better results (I never put celery in before--so it added a
nice crunch!).

Thanks again and I look forward to next year's Bowers Fest (and we will most
definitely leave a spot open for the Hot Luck next year--I want to enjoy
more than one of Mike's Lemon Drops...), and hope to see the Chili Base on
your product list soon!
