I'm not sure if this fits with this thread, but I am growing banana peppers
and habeneros right now...
I have noticed a sharp increase (from last summer) of the heat level of the
banana peppers.  Do you think it is possible that I inherited some traits
from the habenero plant?  I did pollinate it with the hab plant.
