Ah yes, erect vs. pendant is one thing, but one should also consider turgid
vs. flaccid, which may be correlated but not the same.  Generally my fruit
remains turgid until the pod ripens and the seed is viable.  I could be
wrong, but fruits also seem to be more turgid in the morning than at other
times of the day.  After ripening, the fruit gradually becomes flaccid, and
if not used, begins to decay and rot.  Once the fruit becomes flaccid, it is
more and more difficult to use.
