I've just re-subbed back on the digest after a break of a couple of
years or so. It's good to see so many old faces are still around.
And when I say old I don't just mean Doug (!). In fact it was Doug
writing to me out of the blue that prompted me to join the list again -
thanks Doug.
To answer some of Tim's questions :

If you want more than the commonly available Cayenne types then
try Mr Fothergill's Seeds of Newmarket, Suffolk. They have a fair
selection of chile seeds but you'll need to buy mail order as the
shops don't sell the complete range. Haven't got a 'phone number
though - sorry.
If you want the sort of varieties that we just can't get here in the UK
then I believe Dave Anderson of Tough Love will send to the UK but
it's getting a bit late in the day to start sowing for our short season
in my opinion.
A better bet is to order small plants rather than sowing seed. For
this try Marshall's. They sell a collection of 20 plants for GBP 8.95
which is made up of 5 plants each of Hungarian Hot Wax, Giant
Jalapeno, Fuego and Habanero. Telephone 01945 466 711 to order
the plants or a catalogue.

I live in South Oxfordshire and my nearest Sainsbury's at Calcot
near Reading sell Habaneros from time to time. Otherwise try one
of the Asian grocers on the Cowley Road in Oxford. I used to use
the Continental Stores (on the right as you go out of town). They
used to sell huge Scotch Bonnets as well as stocking a wide range
of spices, pickles and sauces.
Nice to be back
cheers
