> ...all of the rain that came while we were gone... > More than two thirds of the chiles had been > strangled out or had died of too much wet. We just finished the driest July since they started keeping records in Kansas City. The first day of August we got 1/3 inch and that tripled all of July's precip. A spot shower the next day helped the cracks in the ground to shrink from 3/4 inch to 3/8 inch. Worst fight with BER I've had yet. Had to pitch three times as many paprikas as I've harvested, can't see firing up the dehydrator for 4 lonely pods. The only things laughing at the drought now are the yatsufusa chiles. Erect pods pointing at the broiling sun like so many middle fingers raised in defiance. Scott... feast or famine, huh... KCK
