Uh, oh. Sorry for starting the chipmunk relo thread. Just for clarification, I DO actually live in the woods. I just moved the critters to the other vacant woods across the street (no chile patches over there as far as I know). Also, here in Farmington Hills, MI -- discharge of any firearm to deal with the varmints would most likely get me sent to jail. ;^) Re: chipmunk gumbo. Sounds like a good idea, but we must grow really small chipmunks here in the Detroit metro area. You'd have to skin a zillion of 'em to make a big ole batch o' gumbo! To keep this sorta on topic, there are some decent gumbo recipes on the Tabasco web site, though. I think I've made 'em all (sans chipmunk) and they've all turned out great. Still on topic, the pepper patch (albeit small) is really thriving. Is is just me or do the chiles (at least, here in the Midwest) seem to be early this year? I don't recall being able to pick mature chiles this early in the season. Also, the heat level seems really good. Maybe they had enough stress from this summer's weird weather to heat them up a bit. No complaints about that! Headin' back to chile patch to see what's ripe for dinner. . . Dot in DEE-troit
