I came across a new pepper today.... in a florist's shop. It's an ornamental, with erect pods about 1 1/4 inches tall. The fruit is bright red, the skin is thin and it's quite seedy. The pods are quite fat but come to a pointed end. The taste wasn't much, kind of grassy and the skin was tough and leathery to chew but I was surprised by it as I was expecting heat and there was none. Has anyone come across _heatless_ but erect pods before. I have no idea what species or variety it might be but when I went googling for images it looks just like a Capsicum chacoense. But it couldn't be; the literature says it only grows wild in Argentina. There's several nice pix of various peppers at http://www-ang.kfunigraz.ac.at/~katzer/engl/generic_frame.html?Caps_fru.html My mystery chile looks just like a Capsicum chacoense or a Dundicut except the tips comes to a distinct point; but is much fatter than a Tabasco or a Malagueta. Any ideas? Cheers Jim in Yellowknife
