I'd have to say that here in Las Cruces, Bueno is pretty much a staple
for it's convenience and when you run out of your own yearly supply.
Although, I still have several bags of red and green roasted in the
freezer. All good New Mexicans (and chile-heads!) have a separate
freezer bascially devoted to stocking up on chile!! I love being able to
go out to the fields here, picking my own chile and having them roast it
right there.... *sigh* Can't wait for this years harvest!

I'd say that the price you paid is about the same as here - I think it's
something like $2.29 at the friendly, neighborhod wally-whirled..

I have found a source for frozen NM chiles from a national grocery chain. Unfortunately, I've only found the chiles at this chain's southern California locations (Anaheim and San Diego).

Last week, when I was in San Diego on business, I want to Albertsons and bought 10 containers and brought them back to Washington on the plane in my backpack. Cost: $29.99, Shipping: $0.00!
