All I can say is "Lighten Up!" I would not use hotsauce on an innocent kid, nor would anyone else I know. I don't even play "tricks" on people by slipping the sauce to unsuspecting victims. First of all it would be cruel, second, it's a waste of sauce (and that's a precious thing I think you'll all agree) if they don't enjoy it. Do people abuse kids? Yes! Do people on this list abuse kids? I doubt it! How common is the use of hotsauce in discipline? Who knows? There are certainly abuses that are much more common and destructive AND more worthy of our attention. Nobody here has advocated the abuse of children, nor would they. And as for the "jackbooted PC police" comment, it was an exagerated mental picture used to point out man's ability to over react to just about anything these days. It was not meant to address the issue of child abuse or anything approaching it. Throughout this entire thread there has been no denial of the potential for abuse. Let me restate POTENTIAL. Just as there is potential for pretty much anything in an average household to be used as an abusive tool. So... In any given situation, if a person is going to abuse a child they will do it, regardless of whether it's hot sauce on the tongue, a swat on the ass or a kick in the ribs. An abusive parent is an abusive parent. The fact that a bottle of Tabasco is sitting on the kitchen table is not enough to turn any normal person into an abusive maniac. My opinion and I'm entitled to it. And now for something completely different... Can't wait for Open Fields this year. I've gone without fresh habs for too long as the ones in the store never measure up to the standards set in Jim's little corner of heaven :) That and they charge $6.95 a pound (Nothing beats free!)
