And here you've hit upon an interesting catch 22, as Perry touched upon also. Kleenex, Nylon, Coke, Xerox, and *tons* of others have had dilution, if not outright loss, of their mark DUE to their success! Though it galls me to think so, sometimes you can be too successful. We all take "Xerox it" something to mean 'copy it' and it now applies to *any* copier- Minolta, Cannon, whatever. We should properly be saying "please thermosetting mimeograph that". Here in the Mid-west you ask at a restaraunt for a "coke" and they will ask you which kind- "Pepsi, Coke, or Dr Pepper". 'Coke' is applied generically to *any* carbonated soft drink. "Gimmee a Kleenex" even if it is a "Puffs" or some other brand. Again- you have to take into account context. We can still say "Sprint over to the market" because we are not 'competing' in the same category. Don't worry folks- you'll be done of me shortly :-) I'm at the firehouse tomorrow and most of the rest of the week. Back to lurking :-) -Jim http://www.StepUpforCharity.org
