Somewhat on topic because sometimes used in our cooking with heat. Mexican Oregano (Lippia graveolens) Took a whole bunch of cuttings early Mar from branch tips of my old mother MO plant so could share with friends and donate to the auction this year at OF. Cuttings were from branch tips so would send up a single central leader. I use a domed propagator under lights and try to keep temps in the 60s for cuttings (& grafting) http://www.fototime.com/562548FB2937EE0/standard.jpg http://www.fototime.com/8C6A1A1B526F41D/standard.jpg http://www.fototime.com/A51A4D9744364AE/standard.jpg Here's the mama plant and the cuttings today: http://www.fototime.com/9ED87AA6C5B489C/orig.jpg There are 16 cuttings left and the central stems (leader) are 24" from top to bottom. They are in standard 5" square nursery pots and are ready to be cut back and repotted into 1 gal pots. Cutting back will make for a more bushy and manageable plant. You can see the mother plant has been cut back in years past and is quite bushy at aprox 5' high by 5' wide. http://www.fototime.com/32C769BC19B4530/orig.jpg Not sure how many will bring to OF this year. Will depend on estimated demand I guess. They are intended for JimC's charity and perhaps we can come up with a price to reserve before the auction or just auction and leave to chance. I know that I would pay $5 for one in a heartbeat if didn't already have two 'mama' plants that I overwinter inside each year. MO is not easy to start from seed even though that is how I got my original plants. They need light to germinate so must be top sown. (which is the way I start pepper seeds) I've not seen a volunteer plant in my maybe 10 years growing this. I've sent 1000s of seeds to all over the world and not one has germinated that I know of. (maybe my seeds are sterile because need two plants?) Don't know. Staying out of the flame war here. Only a year of organic chem in collich so disqualified meinself. jt in Misery
