Just throwing in my $50 (inflation, gas prices, etc....): I've never
had Mexican oregano, but I have had Cuban oregano (it's really nice!),
and if the two are similar, I would bet that the Mexican oregano is
at least as good.... I used to have Cuban oregano (got a starter from
a friend) in along with my pepper garden, but it died after being left
alone (and inside) for too long while I'd evacuated from a hurricane,
and I haven't been able to find it since.
Just FWIW (which may be nil---I'm comparing based on geography alone,
which may be utterly useless)....
