First person I though of was Doug Barnhart! I really don't think it
follows that eating the heat causes weight loss! Marie and I are big
time people watchers, particularly in restaurants. I have noticed that
the large, obese(fat)folks, ingest their meals like it is the Last
Supper! And they will never eat again. They gobble the food down,
without really tasting or enjoying it, and when it is all gone, just get
up and leave. Thai food, as an example, is very full of flavor, complex
variations, which add greatly to the enjoyment of a Thai meal. And yet,
we have been in Thai restaurants, and seen people who came in long after
we did, gobble down all of their food and leave before we are even
partially finished our meals. They simply cannot enjoy their meal to
the same extent as Marie and I have done.
This overeating, get it all into the belly as quick as possible syndrome
seems to be an epidemic and is just as prevalent with children as with
adults. And, sadly for children, it is the cause of childhood obesity,
high cholesteral, high blood pressure, and diabetes, which these poor
kids will suffer with, and die young. Do not the parents have any sense
at all? All the hot sauce in the world is not going to instruct children
how to eat properly, chew their food, and enjoy what they are eating.
Rather, they must get back to their game console, computer, TV or
whatever form of no physical activity they indulge in! So, FAT parents,
almost invariably, FAT kids!
Very sad commentary on what has happened to the North American continent
since the end of WW 2!
For what it is worth, my weight is 148 lbs @ 5' 10" and Marie is about
140 lbs at 5' 6" but then she has born 7 kids! But still at 78 she is
good for her weight and height. And at 82 I am also good for those figures.
End rant! Cheers, Doug in BC where we eat some chile incorporated
food EVERY day!!
