(Shellfish allergy. . .waaahhhh! 8-( All of a sudden, a few years ago; classic anaphylactic shock off some really lovely chilefied shrimp scampi. Came unsettlingly close to killing me, as I was out in BFE at the time, a goodly stretch of foggy 2 a.m. mountain road away from the hospital. They not only took me straight into the ER when I got there without asking for insurance carrier or paperwork, they didn't even ask my name; I gather I was an interesting shade of maroon and my breathing was starting to resemble a busted piccolo stop on a pipe organ.
