Ok, I'll try the coffee with peppers but not smoked ones. I have an aversion to smoke since my house burned down!

I have loved chile in coffee for some time now.  I don't grind the 
chile, though.  I just throw a while home-smoked chipotle into the brew 
funnel when making coffee, and it gives every cup a nice, rosy glow.   
Not overpowering, but a nice hint of smoky heat.
