Great Recipie! We made it with about a half a can of chipotles. Was great
for the family half that says they're not chile-heads (they are, just don't
admit it. They eat much hotter food than the general population). Pureed
the rest of the can of chipotles for those of us that like more heat, could
spoon in a little more if we wanted. We used homegrown black turtles,
soaked and cooked them first.

Also didn't mash the beans, the only beans we like mashed are pintos or
black turtles for refried beans; also works great to add a couple of your
favorite chiles to the beans when you cook them. As noted; black turtles
make good refried beans as well as pintos, somewhat nutlike in taste.

I'm fixing Jonathan's Black-Eyed Beans (peas) with Mushrooms for supper
tonight.
