Subject: [CH] So What Spicy Item Did You Put on Your Thanksgiving Table?

Risa and Friends

We had the usual spicy cranberry relish -- (Cranberries, Jalapenos to taste,
Citrus (lemon, or lime or orange) and a bit of sugar stirred together) -- I
did use a universal seasoning mix that I rubbed on the turkey Wewdnesday
evening -- made sure my mom-in-law got some breast meat from inside the
breast. She didn't eat the cranberries :-)

We had curried lamb meatballs with sour cream sauce on Wednesday evening
when the university boys came home.

Recipes follow:

Lamb Meatball Curry
 Ingredients
   Meatballs
1 lb ground lamb (or beef)
   1 medium onion, finely chopped
   1 clove garlic, crushed
   ¼ tsp finely grated ginger
1 chile (I used 3 jalapenos) seeded and finely chopped
   1 tsp coriander
   ½ tsp salt
   2 tsp curry powder
   1 egg,
Cracker crumbs and milk as needed to make good meatballs
   Olive oil

I put the onion, peppers, spices, garlic and egg in the food processoror
and whirred them about a bit. Then added lamb, crackers and milk, and
whirred the mixture about a bit more

   Gravy
2 tbsp ghee (I used butter, didn't have time to make ghee)
   2 medium onions, finely chopped
   4 cloves garlic, crushed
   1 tbsp finely chopped ginger
   2 Tablespoons curry powder
   1 Tablespoon chili powder
1 12 oz. carton sour cream

Mix meatballs - fry in 2 -3 Tablespoons hot olive oil till nearly done -
remove from pan, drain fat ( I don't care for lamb lard) - melt butter,
sauté onions, garlic and spices - add sour cream and meatballs, simmer for
20 minutes - serve with rice (basmati is good)

Universal Seasoning Mix
1 large bottle pepper (use as base measurement)( If I buy a 8 oz bottle of
pepper, each other item is measured in the pepper bottle)
1 bottle salt
1 bottle seasoned salt
1 bottle garlic powder
1 bottle paprika
1 bottle onion powder
Habanero powder to taste - a little goes a long way

Mix together and use to taste.
