As you probably know they are Manzanos in Mexico, Rocotos in Peru and Locotos in Bolivia.
 
Re: blossom drop, just attended a presentation by a local Master Gardener who said a solution of aspirin in water sprayed on the tomato vines would produce more flowers - we'll see...

Yes, different names for the species C. pubescens.

BTW - to those of you commenting on not losing flowers on tomatoes 
and various chile plants, I should point out that blossom drop is a 
particular problem of C. pubescens.
