I've grown Cuban Oregano too, but darned if I can remember the taste. http://www.fototime.com/9BAB9E947442B68/orig.jpg I think aphids killed the plant. Or maybe it was spider mites. My rememory sucks! And thanks to Kris too! I already feel better about growing so many. jt ----- Original Message ----- From: Jim Graham To: chile-heads@globalgarden.com Sent: Friday, June 13, 2008 11:43 AM Subject: Re: [CH] OT Mexican Oregano On Fri, Jun 13, 2008 at 11:26:46AM -0500, JohnT wrote: > Somewhat on topic because sometimes used in our cooking with heat. > > Mexican Oregano (Lippia graveolens) Just throwing in my $50 (inflation, gas prices, etc....): I've never had Mexican oregano, but I have had Cuban oregano (it's really nice!), and if the two are similar, I would bet that the Mexican oregano is at least as good.... I used to have Cuban oregano (got a starter from a friend) in along with my pepper garden, but it died after being left alone (and inside) for too long while I'd evacuated from a hurricane, and I haven't been able to find it since. Just FWIW (which may be nil---I'm comparing based on geography alone, which may be utterly useless)....
