Perhaps there is a relatively simple solution for the people who are having
problems. Assuming that there is no problem with the listserv itself, if
someone who is knowledgeable regarding this particular type of listserv were
to write up in a clear and concise manner a set of instructions for signing
up, unsubscribing, modifying subscription features, and all the other
relevant commands that are associated with this list, we can see if it
solves the problems. These instructions should include tips on what to do
as well as what to avoid, such as text only, beware of signatures that may
not be text, no attachments, etc. It would probably be useful if tips
related to configuring specific popular mail programs could be included.

Once written up and vetted by our resident experts, this could be posted to
the list monthly, or at least quarterly. Perhaps the person who undertakes
to post this could offer a personal e-mail address to receive mail if these
instructions don't work, thus giving us some feedback.

When I moved to a new computer a couple of years ago I had all sorts of
problems, but I was able to get a response from Mike. He told me about some
of the changed commands, but they were never corrected on the web site, and
I suspect are still that way today. I don't know when the reply/reply to
all feature changed, but it wasn't always that way. I'll probably live with
it rather than risk breaking something.
