Actually the seeds John got from Northrop King were Red Savinas.
Before I gave up on trying to negotiate with Frank Garcia, the
breeder, we talked about the fact that he had sold seeds to N-K. NK
in turn packaged them under their own name for one year and then
under Wal-Marts name for the last couple of years.

Shepherd's seeds did have an exclusive contract when they were first
introduced. They do vary greatly in heat levels. I had some HPLC
tested several years ago and the Orange Habs that I had grown were
hotter. Most of the knowledgable chile people that I've spoken with
think the Guinness record was produced with the help of pure
capsiacin since no one has been able to duplicate it. Great marketing
story though!
